Over 200 people packed the Banff Springs Hotel, Banff on Friday 17 May for
the Aberdeenshire Sports Council 2002 Sports Awards Evening.
‘We had
received over 75 nominations and the selection panel had an incredibly difficult
time shortlisting the nominees for each of the 11 categories due to the
exceptionally high quality of nominees’ said Mike Seed, Administrator to
Aberdeenshire Sports Council.
The evening proved to be a great
success and is a way of rewarding and acknowledging Aberdeenshire sports people
for their commitment to and/or achievement in sport during 2001 or the 2001/2002
season (or in the case of the Service to Sport category over many years). The
achievements and success of the nominees underlines the wealth of talented
sportspeople in Aberdeenshire and the commitment given to sport by so many
people.
