Follow The Herring VI - 20km Road Run & 2km Fun Run
This years Follow the Herring VI - 20km Road Run & 2km Fun Run will be held on Sunday 8 July, starting at the Recreation Park, Portsoy.
Last year saw 84 runners completing the 20km course (including 27 ladies) and we look forward to seeing more ladies participate this year. Numbers were down on the usual entry last year due to a clash of dates with the Stonehaven half marathon & Great Inverurie Bike Ride. We are however, hoping for a record entry this year.
The whole course runs through very attractive countryside with medals and goodie bags going to all finishers and awards for those finishing in the top places (new trophies this year).
The run forms one part of an action packed Portsoy Traditional Small Boats Festival which is being held throughout the weekend and promises to be 'bigger and better' this year. There will be a wide range of things to do and see all weekend.
The closing date for applications is Friday 29 June. Late entries however will be accepted on the day of the race up to 10.00am.
This year for the second time we have organised a 2km Fun Run (for youngsters minimum age 8 years and adults) which will take place at the same time as the 20km run. So why not make it a family day out (or weekend) and all take some enjoyable exercise!
Clubs (whatever their sport) are asked to encourage their members to participate in either the 20km or 2km events depending on their levels of fitness!
Schools are also requested to bring the Fun Run details to the attention of all pupils eight years and over.
